The family of Rekhia Osakunni has demanded for justice over the death of their daughter who died in April 2012, accusing her husband as the suspect.

The spokesperson for the family, Hon. Usman Ibrahim disclosed this through a release to newsmen yesterday in Lagos.
According to the family, “Rekhia, the wife of Sunday Osakunni was murdered early last year, but the killer is yet to be known.

“The death of our daughter was most brutal, and has brought great pain and sorrow to the entire family because of the insensitive attitude of her husband when informed of Rekhia death”, Ibrahim said.

The family explained that autopsy report that was signed by Dr. A. N Awolola of Lagos University Teaching Hospital revealed that Rekhia died by strangulation.

“We hold strong reservations as to the roles her husband played concerning Rekhia’s death, and that has made it imperative that we consider him the number one suspect, until proven otherwise by the court of law. This confirms the suspicions of the family that our daughter did not die a natural death”, they said.

The family opined, “following the controversial union of our daughter and Sunday Osakunni, which we never supported, marred by wife battery, fights and other forms of abuse by her husband,we hold that he never loved our daughter”.
