Edo state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole yesterday in Benin explained that he is seeking the mandate of the people in the July 14 governorship election to enable him finish the various projects he embarked upon.
Comrade Oshiomhole who is contesting the governorship election on the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), made this explanation during a grand rally to round off his campaign for the election.
Oshiomhole who said the Edo state in now working again in less than four years, said his administration has scored high marks in building of roads with street lights, building of schools, provision of water and other infrastructural development.
While commenting on why Nigeria continues in abject poverty as a result of bad government, Oshiomhole said: “Nigeria has the money to meet all the needs of the Nigerians, but Nigeria does not have enough money to meet the greed of politicians who feed on the resources the nation.”
Former governor of Lagos state and leader of ACN, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu said a vote for Oshiomhole is a vote for peace, development and progress for Edo state.
“Today, no more floods in Benin City and no more sharing of the money. This is the time to vote for the future of your children,” just as he called on Edo students to use their votes to give an answer to PDP candidate, Charles Airhiavbere who called them criminals at a political debate.
Also present was Lagos state governor, Raji Fashola who said the July 14 governorship election was a good opportunity for the people of Edo state to renew the social contract they signed four years ago, which he said was now working for them.
“This is the time to renew the social contract that you made four years ago. By July 14, we will come back to celebrate the renewal of the social contract we signed four years ago,” Fashola said.
