Mr Adesanya Onayoade, Head, Corporate Communications, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO), said on Tuesday that the company had received Ground Support Equipment worth N2 billion.

Onayoadesaid this in a press statement, circulated to newsmen in Ikeja.

According to him, the equipment will be delivered to the company’s stations at the various airports nationwide.

He said that this would boost the company’s efforts to offer its customers seamless services.

Onayoadeadvised cargo importers and airlines to complete the clearing of their shipments within the government’s stipulated time.

``This information is necessary due to the non-clearing of cargo by the Licensed Customs Agents.

``Our cargo handling protocol allows for seven days grace to clear such cargo after which they will be charged for demurrage,’’ he said.

Onayaode added: ``In the event that the goods are not cleared within 28 days, the consignments risk being declared overtime cargo by the Nigerian Customs Service.’’

The communications boss also said that the company would support the Federal Government’s  economic development programmes, including the renewal of airports’ infrastructure.

He gave an assurance that NAHCO would also work with the Nigerian Customs Service to ensure full payment of duties on cargo imported through its facilities.
