Kenny Sam is a practicing electrical engineer, who is married with three lovely kids. The gospel artiste who has worked with notable faces in the music industry and signed to Boss Entertainment, spoke with Anthony Ada Abraham on his upcoming album.

Many people have continued to lament the spate of neglect on the side of gospel music, but for Kenny Sam, a gospel artiste, he said his motivation as an artiste goes back to his background.

‘I started music some years back all for the love I have for the gospel music . My past is the driving force as in my poor background, so looking at were God has brought me so far, I feel through music I can encourage someone out there who is presently going through what I’ve been through.’

On his reaction on the Nigeria Gospel music as an insider, he said there is still work to do stating that the gospel musicians he look up to are few.

‘Frankly...the gospel industry in Nigeria still needs to work harder ...for me, we are yet to get to the promise land. Hmmmm! This is a hard one oo, who do I look up to? Samsong is a great artiste, Promise Benson and Buchi, I love their lyrics’.

Asked how many albums he has to his credit he said this is his first major project. Though he has released a single which is enjoying massive air play”.

‘This album is my first major project Titled “My Definition”, and it should drop any time soon.’

About the single...
‘I dropped my first single some time in February this year, titled “Samaniya”.

Kenny said he was in awe when  the single came out because the reaction was mind blowing...and when the video was released into the market it was rated high in the electronic media.

‘The video is rated at the moment as one of the best gospel videos in Nigeria.

‘Till date the video is still enjoying air play in about 32 TV stations in and outside the country’.

When asked who he has worked with in the media and who he would like to work with both in the secular and gospel scenes, he said: ‘Yes I have worked with Samsong, Promise Benson but for Buchi not yet. But I’m  hoping to work with Panam soon.’ For the secular artiste, yes I prefer working with Wizboy because his lyrics are not raw. His songs are something you can relate to. He is a good artiste’.

For his up coming album, he said it is a ten tracks album and his intended message is never to give up because God is in control.

‘I have 10 tracks in the album and my intending message is that God will never give up on you so long as you do not give up on yourself. Have faith and  trust in God. He sure will see you through’.

Kenny also said the way things are going, he sees himself changing the face of gospel music in Nigeria and the world at large.

‘I see my self changing  the gospel music industry by God’s grace.

‘I see my self revolutionizing the gospel industry by God’s grace. I want to make people know that God is the King and him alone is God. Every knee must bow and all tongues must confess that HE is Lord’.

Kenny Sam has a message for gospel artistes like himself: ‘Try as much as you can to be professional, have the right attitude, be creative and above all believe in God and yourself. There is nothing God cannot do’.
