Enugu Police Kill 4 Suspected Car Robbers

The Enugu State Police Command on Tuesday disclosed that it had killed four suspected armed robbers who until their demise specialized in snatching cars and killing their victims along Onitsha/Enugu expressway.

A release made available to LEADERSHIP by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, said the smashing of the dangerous gang and killing of its members followed a hint that six armed men “had allegedly struck after unizik junction along Awka/Enugu expressway at about 2030hrs of 11/07/12 snatching at gun point a Toyota thundra jeep with registration No: LX931EKY”.

Amaraizu stated that the command swiftly dispatched its operatives at onyeama hills along Onitsha/Enugu expressway in Enugu at “about 0300hrs of 12/07/12, hoodlums having been sighted with the said jeep were given a hot chase and the hoodlums did not hesitate to scare the operatives when they sporadically shot at the operatives”.

According to him, hoodlums were “subdued by the superior fire power of the operatives leaving four critically injured while two escaped with serious bullet wounds”.

He stated that four of the robbers who were critically injured died while they were being taken to Parklane Specialist Hospital.

Item recovered from the robbers, according to him, included the snatched jeep, pump Action Gun, double barrel short gun, live cartridges, fifteen assorted handsets and a sharp cutlass.

He appealed to members of the public especially hospital operators to report promptly to the state command patients with bullets wounds for appropriate action.
