Followers of rave-of-the-moment television programme, The Big Friday Show, were treated to a huge surprise last Friday as Nollywood actress and Globacom ambassador, Funke Akindele, appeared on set as the host of Episode 5 of the show instead of the regular anchor and ace Comedian, Basket Mouth.

Basket Mouth, also a Glo ambassador, has been the host of the show since its debut last year. However, Akindele featured as Special Guest Celebrity host for the week. The talented actress popularly known as Jennifer acquitted her role well, adding a generous dose of humour to the show.

It was as usual a fun-filled package as the edition also had as studio guest international disc jockey, DJ Humility, while Shun Don was the up-coming artiste for the week. Akindele thus becomes the third Nollywood act to star as the celebrity guest on the show this season after Uche Jombo, in the second edition and Desmond Elliot in the fourth edition.

Popular music act Banky W was the celebrity guest in the first episode while singer Timaya also known as the Egberipapa 1 of Bayelsa was guest in the third episode.

Last Friday’s edition also featured regular segments such as the Top 10 music Video Countdown, The Celebrity Meets where a lucky fan gets to meet their favourite celebrity and Prank Yo Peoples, where a Glo subscriber nominates a friend to be pranked with help from the Big Friday Show crew, amongst other exciting highlights.

There was also the weekly Vlog segment by Vlogger Stephanie with sizzling gist of what was new and hot in the entertainment world.

As usual, viewers were also given the chance to suggest celebrities they would like to see interviewed on the show and send questions to their favourite celebrity by SMS or MMS to have their questions answered directly on the show.

The Big Friday Show which is sponsored by Globacom and produced by MTV Base also offers viewers the opportunity to prank their friends by sending in their home videos through MMS or by uploading onto Facebook; the funniest clips will be played on the show.

The overall best prank clip will stand a chance to win a grand prize of US$2000 at the end of the series. Additionally, Glo subscribers in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin have the opportunity to win prizes including weekly recharge cards, Glo high speed internet modems, high-end Blackberry handsets and Glo SIMs.

The show is transmitted on cable television on MTV Base Channel 322 and on terrestrial television on Silverbird TV and AIT.

The one-hour programme runs every Friday at 6.00 p.m. on Silverbird; 7.30 p.m. on MTV Base and every Wednesday, 9.30pm on AIT. The show also runs on ORTB in Benin Republic and ViaSat1 in Ghana.
