The BauchiState government has described as baseless and unfounded the claim by the management of Warri Wolves Football Club that Bauchi is insecure for the 2012 Federation Cup.
Warri Wolves had rejected Bauchi as a venue for the matches in the 2012 Federation Cup under the guise of insecurity.
A press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the BauchiState Governor, Mr. Ishola Michael Adeyemi said the claim by Wolves is a ploy to cover up their unpreparedness for the competition considering the caliber of other clubs in their group.
Adeyemi explained that Bauchi remain one of the most peaceful states in the country considering the adequate security measures put in place by the state government to protect lives and properties of its citizens and visitors alike.“For the avoidance of doubt, many clubs bigger than Warri Wolves FC have visited BauchiState for their matches and nothing happened to them, some have even stayed and spent nights in Bauchi on their ways to honor matches elsewhere and were adequately protected for the duration of their stay in the state”, he said.
The Bauchi government spokesman recalled that Wikki Tourists FC of the state has travelled to all the Eastern states where insecurity is even higher such as kidnapping and armed robbery without any fear whatsoever because sports is seen as a unifying force.
Mr. Adeyemi assured that adequate security within and outside the stadium will be provided to all the teams that will play in Bauchi and feel free to play games to the admiration of their supporters.
He described the people of Bauchi as sports lovers as thousands of soccer fans always troop to the AbubakarTafawaBalewa Memorial Stadium to watch football matches and other sporting events.
