Tension has continued to mount in the Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government area of Bayelsa over the claims and counter claims from the rival camps of the embattled Former Chairman of the Council, Ebitikitin Diongoli and the incumbent, Chief Ebierein Fala Tubor at the weekend with gun attack on the incumbent and men of the State Security Outfit, Famou Tamgbe by hired thugs.
While the Former Chairman, Ebitikitin denied involvement in the alleged attack and gun battle with the Police, he accused the incumbent Council boss of invading his home with a pistol and a detachment of policemen to assassinate him.
But the incumbent Chairman, Chief Ebierien Fala Kubor said though the alleged gun attack on him by hired thugs was the second time, he had escaped being killed in his face-off with the removed Chairman, whom he alleged led the attack on him at Kaiama community in the council area.
In a text message and statement issued by his wife, Mrs. Weyindiepreye Diongoli, the sacked Chairman, Ebikintin Diongoli said he could not understand why the incumbent council boss was all out to attack him, ”what have I done that removing me from office is not enough and they are arresting my family as a ploy to kill me.
