Workers in the Judiciary yesterday commended President Goodluck Jonathan for the appointment of Justice Alooma Mukhtar as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, adding that her superintending over the Judiciary will further strengthen the justice system in Nigeria.
National Publicity secretary of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) comrade Marwan Mustapha who spoke with LEADERSHIP on telephone also described the victory of comrade Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state as a signal that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria.
Comrade Marwan added JUSUN which is an advocate of an independent judiciary is convinced that Justice Mukhtar is competent of conducting credible reforms in the judicial arm of government to the satisfaction of majority of Nigerians.
According to him, “we want to commend President Jonathan for the appointment of Justice Alooma Mukhtar as the new CJN and we also want to congratulate Justice Alooma for a position she so deserves, considering her credentials and her track records.
He further said, “JUSUN who have been advocating for reforms that will ensure justice and fairness to all as well as positively impact on our collective craving for a corruption free society will continue to partner with the new CJN to ensure she succees in office.
“We also want to congratulate our own comrade, the Governor of Edo state for his victory in the July 14, 2012 governorship election in Edo state, we believe in him on his quest to deliver the dividend of democracy to citizens of Edo state and we also see his victory as a triumph of democracy in Nigeria”.
