Twenty two rural electrification projects allegedly abandoned in various communities across Osun State by past administrations have been completed and ready for commissioning by Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The projects which gulped the sum of N292million were executed under the community development project scheme of the State government.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP yesterday in Osogbo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural and Community Development, Honourable Kunle Ige disclosed that Governor Aregbesola has also recently procured another 35 units of transformers to be distributed to rural communities across the nine federal constituencies of the State.
While commending the Governor for inaugurating the state community development council, Hon. Ige called on the council to make good use of the 30 seater coaster bus and official vehicles presented to them for the propagation of the community development initiative of Governor Aregbesola.
Ige, however, called on the authorities of the 30 Local Government Councils and the Area Office in the State to make effective use of the 185 artisans who were trained on the maintenance of hand pump boreholes, in order to ensure regular flow of water in the communities.
Meanwhile, the Commission of Inquiry set up by Governor Aregbesola to investigate the circumstances surrounding the procurement of N18.38billion loan from United Bank of Africa(UBA) by the immediate past administration have embarked on assessment visits to project sites purportedly financed with the loan.
