He is young but a gifted hand with a name that people will reckon with in the future. His parents call him Odogun Oladipupo Emmanuel, while his stage name is LADIDA. Many compare him with the likes of 2face but he says his style is different. In an exclusive interview with Anthony Ada Abraham, he spoke on his coming video ‘Prisoner of Love’.

Ladida Is a young talent artiste from the western part of Nigeria. He said music has been part of him and he sees artistes like 2face and Wande Coal as mentors.

‘Basically I started singing a long time ago like every other person would say. Mine started precisely 2001. I used to learn from my elder brother and then got influences from 2face and Wande Coal. I mixed the three styles together and other influences I had like Bob Nesta Marley and Wyclef Jean.

That explained why I have the fusion of reggae and R’n’B...that is my style...so I started a long time ago like a kid on the street. There was no money like today, so you can’t say I came to the industry because of money. I am in the industry because this is what I know how to do best. And I am very sure about it’.

Though when he decided to go into music the reaction from his parents and friends was with mixed feelings but that didn’t deter him as he moved on, making sure that he proved to his parents that education was still great.

‘Like every parent would want their children to go to school and come out with good grades, mine were no exception. I am in school and my grades are high. My parents want good grades and I am giving them good grades. Also as an artiste...the songs I am singing are good songs not the usual thing, the kind of songs that everyone can relate to, I don’t have a problem in that aspect’.

He just released  a video, ‘Prisoner of love...but Ladida said people will get a feel of it in a few weeks.

‘The video is completed already...in a few weeks it will be on air... But it is already enjoying air play in and outside the country’.

The video, he said, talks more about his personal love life bringing out his feelings in his relationship. He explained more on the storyline.

“The video is just to emphasise more on the story line. The kind of things I go through and the kind of love life I lived or had with a girl in the past. That is what I put in the video so that people could relate with what I am talking about’.

Ladida also said the intended message of the song, is to spread love especially now that the word has been bastardised .
‘When I was writing the song I was thinking about unconditional love. When I see what is going on today, the love, all is based on material things. When I sang prisoner of love, I was trapped inside the girls heart.

That is to tell you that it is unconditional love, even though you ave nothing you should stick to your partner. Love should be the major reason why you are in a relationship not material things. You should just love...Love is my religion and I encourage everyone to spread it.

He said as he don’t want to feature any notable faces  in this single because it is all about himself and the song is talking about his love life.

‘No...I did the song alone because it is all about me and my love life.’

As an upcoming artiste in the industry he is not relenting in his effort. And he wants people to wish him well...

‘As an upcoming artiste, I am just trying to do my best to put everything together, the industry is tight...I believe there is a lot of space in the air for the birds to fly...I love everybody in the industry, I pray for my brother, everybody and other artistes in the industry. I wish them good and I hope they wish me same too’.

When asked this question about the very competitive music industry, and  what he is bringing that we have not heard or seen before? he simply said, originality and content.

‘I am bringing originality and content into the music industry...I write my lyrics with tears and pain...I write my lyrics from the heart. Basically if you listen to my songs you will know it is from the heart. I put everything together to write my songs, I don’t just run to the studio.’

For the major sponsors of his  song, he said he is  under  W Record label and they have been the major financiers of his music.

‘I just got signed to W-Records, so we are doing big things together which is coming out soon’.

Ladida sees himself touring the world and in a platform where God has prepared for him in two years time.

‘I see myself where God wants me to be, I see myself in a better place...bright lights, shining cameras and so on...stardom.’

Message: ‘Love is my religion...spread it like a disease...I am a devoted disciple of love. I want everybody to love each other. My message is love your neighbour as you would yourself.’
