Seventeen suspects have been arrested for various crimes across Kogi State by the men of the state police command, the state commissioner of police Mr. Muhammadu Katsina, has disclosed.
Katsina, who made this known while speaking to newsmen in Lokoja yesterday, further said the police recovered 19 locally made bombs, 1,501 rounds of AK 47 rifle live ammunition, pump action rifles and other dangerous weapons.
He also revealed that one Abdullahi Kolawole from Ibadan, Oyo State, who allegedly killed two visiting mobile policemen at Okene, had been apprehended, even as 11 different vehicles were equally recovered.
Also recovered, according to the police boss, is an Improvised Explosive Devise, mobile armoury Volkswagen Golf car with registration number Kano KMC 826 XA, 16 anti-tank locally made bombs - 8 charged and 8 uncharged, and seven units of power source.
Others items are four units of AK 47 rifles, 1 Mark 4 rifle, 5 pump action rifles, 21 single barrel guns and three locally made pistols, two locally made bullet proof vests and charms, among others.
He further disclosed that another suspect, Raimi Shaidu, also known as Ken Ken, who allegedly masterminded several robbery attacks on banks and Police stations in the state is now with them.
Katsina added that the suspect confessed to personally killing one Sergeant Yisa in Okene and stealing his rifle in 2010.
The police chief assured that they would leave no stone unturned until the state becomes unsafe for hoodlums, promising to track down those behind criminal activities in the state.
