The managing director, Integrated Parking Services, Mallam Iliyasu Abdu has said that the introduction of Park and Pay policy by the federal capital territory administration on Abuja streets has drastically reduced the rate of car theft in the city.

In an interview with LEADERSHIP WEEKEND, Mallam Abdu stated that the policy has equally led to an increase in the internally generated revenue (IGR) accruing to the administration.

“Our operations have reduced to the barest minimum cases of car theft in the Federal Capital Territory. Anywhere you go in Abuja; you will see our staff on the streets, doing their duties, which has led to sanity on the streets.

In terms of revenue generation in the FCT, I think it is a plus because if you can go through the records in July, the administration has never gotten it as good as this time because they were able to generate up to N1.5 billion as internally generated revenue. It has never been done in the FCT since the creation of Abuja”, he said.

The managing director however pointed out that the organisation’s major problem since it commenced operations was the incessant cases of security personnel and irate motorists who beat up their staff.
