A 40-year-old father of triplets, Malam Usman Unguwar-Dogo, on Sunday appealed for the assistance of the Katsina State Government for the survival of the babies.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Unguwar-Dogo’s wife, Maryam delivered three girls on Aug. 2, this year at the Maternal and Child Hospital (MCH), Malumfashi.

Maryam died three days after the delivery due to some complications.

Unguwar-Dogo told NAN that the babies were transferred to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria and were discharged on Aug.10.

He said that the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Kafur Local Government, Alhaji Nafi’u Kuringafa, sponsored the treatment in ABUTH in view of the family’s financial difficulties.

The father said that he would need support for their upkeep, stressing that much was expended before and after their birth.

Unguwar-Dogo, therefore, called on the State Government, wealthy Nigerians and organisations to come to his aid.

He thanked Kafur Local Government for its support in the areas of medical treatment, children’s food, clothing and transportation expenses.

Unguwar-Dogo said that the triplets were the fifth delivery by the deceased, adding that all the previous births were single.

Speaking also, Malama Habi Musa, who is nursing the babies with support from other women in the village, said that the mother encountered difficulties through out the pregnancy.

Musa said that the babies were in good health and prayed for Allah’s protection and support as well as enjoined wealthy individuals and organisations to support them.

She added that Unguwar-Dogo was a farmer, and that his family had been undergoing financial difficulties. (NAN)
