Muslims in the Golden Eaglets would on Sunday offer special prayers for the team during the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr which marks the end of the month long Ramadan fasting.

No fewer than 12 Golden Eaglets’ young guns observed the Ramadan fasting which is one of the tenets of  Islam  and their commitment to the cause of the team was there for all to see as they featured in all the team’s training sessions as well as distinguishing themselves in practice matches.

Manu Garba (MFR), the Golden Eaglets’ Head coach, said the Ramadan was an opportunity to offer prayers to God to bless the efforts of the team over the last few months as the qualifiers for the 2013 African Under-17 get underway.

“We are happy that Allah has provided and catered for us throughout the Ramadan,” he said.”It was an opportunity for us to ask for divine blessings on what we are doing and we are confident that God would accept our prayers.

“I’m impressed with the conduct of the players throughout the Ramadan and we pray that Allah bless all the spiritual sacrifices we’ve made and ultimately, crown our efforts with the team,” Garba explained.

In a related development, management of Princeville Hotel has pledged to give the Golden Eaglets’ Muslim community sumptuous meals for Sallah .The players would round off the celebration with a barbeque get-together later today.
