A fake United Nations official who allegedly specialized in duping unsuspecting members of the public with the intention of securing job placements in the Immigrations Service and the Army has been nabbed by police operatives in Asaba.

The man whose first name is “Innocent” upon interrogation said he hails from Ekwuoma, Ika North-East Council Area of the state.

The suspect who has allegedly duped one Paul Ojeogwu, son of Chief Ojeogwu of Asaba over N110,000 to secure job for him, confessed to crime and said he collected the said money and spent it.

He said the Ojeogwus were known to him and was only trying to assist the son to get a job in immigration but had not worked out.

The suspect said he pleaded with the victims to be patient but they refused before his arrest.

Mr. Innocent said he was living in Europe before he returned to Nigeria, adding that he had a problem with his wife over there.

Meanwhile, six months after the kidnap of an Asaba based business, Chief Nduka Osadebay, the Delta State Police Command says they have arrested two suspects, including his relation in connection with the abduction though the victim has not been rescued.

According to police image maker, DSP Charles Muka, based on intelligence report from the call made across to the family using the following GSM number 07065170613 demanding for a ransom of N5m requested by the hoodlums to secure the release of the victim, the police swung into action and played along with the callers and trailed them to Egbeda junction Lagos, the agreed spot for the collection of the ransom.

He said the suspects one Oborakpo Onome Afie and Chinedu Onyekwelu were arrested while attempting to collect the ransom.

The said Chinedu Onyekwelu, a relation of the victim, had confessed to making the calls and demanding the said ransom and that he introduced Oborakpo Onome into the deal.

Muka said with the confessions of the suspects, police had increased measures to trace the victim and rescue him from the kidnappers, adding that though it was over six months, police will do its best to unmask where the victim is held.

It would be recalled that the victim who is the Managing Director of Soviet Hotel, Asaba was kidnapped on March 11, 2012 at the hotel premises and since then, efforts to locate him had proved abortive.
