The Arewa Citizens Action for Change, a proactive Northern Youth group, has welcomed the on-going talks between the Federal Government and Boko Haram sect, describing it as the only means to achieving lasting peace.

Making the remark in Abuja, the group through its Coordinator, Nastura Ashir Sheriff, however berated human rights activist, Shehu Sani for predicting failure for the talks.

Sheriff said that Sani’s predictions have shown him as a man who does not appreciate other people’s efforts but his.

“Why should Shehu Sani arrogate to himself the sole responsibility to think or speak for the Northern people on any issue that concerns them?” Sheriff charged.

According to him, Shehu’s remarks that the dialogue is bound to fail, is predicated on self interest as against the public interest.

“He feels that every dialogue with the Sect must be brokered by him, which is why he criticises every other initiative,” Sheriff said.
