A Gwagwalada Upper Area Court on Friday sentenced an ex-convict, Ya'u Bello, 25, to one-year jail term
for breaking into the shop of one Matthew Haruna.
Police prosecutor Martha Paul,told the court that Bello and two others, now at large, broke into Haruna's shop at Dobi in Gwagwalada Area Council and attempted to steal on Aug. 25.
Paul said that the convict was caught in the process and handed over to the police.
The prosecutor said that Bello had been convicted in June for stealing.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge, while the prosecutor said since he did not waste the time of the court by pleading guilty, he should be tried summarily under Section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The judge, Mr Babangida Hassan, agreed with the prosecutor's submission and sentenced him to one year imprisonment without an option of a fine. (NAN)
