Gov Sylva Submits Another List Of Commissioner Nominees

The Bayelsa State governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, yesterday submitted the names of the former commissioner for Information, Chief Nathan Egba and 12 others to occupy the position of state commissioners on the State Executive Council and the Board of the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB).

 

While the names of six former members of the sacked cabinet were re-nominated, six new persons were nominated to serve on the State Executive Council if cleared by the House of Assembly. The nomination is coming few months after the appointment of nine commissioners by the governor in June.
 Also nominated and presented to the State House of Assembly is a member of SUBEB, Mr. Debamo Didi Ekoteme to replace Mr. Kemelayefa Omonibeke.

 Reading the two separate letters on the floor of the House, the clerk,, Mr. Aaron Timiye stated that the nomination of the 12 nominees was a supplementary one and in line with the provisions of section 192 of the 1999 Constitution.’
 

Among the new persons presented by the governor include Professor Asuka Tuwemi and Powell Godknows from Yenagoa local government area of the State. Others are Christiana Ebeli (Sagbama),Ikemikze Olaitari (Kolokuma/Opokuma), Dr. Benson Dadziki (Brass) and Imotimi Kpou(Southern Ijaw).
Former members of the sacked cabinet who were re-nominated by the governor include the former commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Gimbra Pamowei,

Former commissioner for Youths and Employment Generation, former Water Resources commissioner, K.D.Francis, the former commissioner for Information, Strategy and Communication, Chief Nathan Egba, the former commissioner for Power, Comrade Maxwell Okoh and the former commissioner for Special Duties(Governor’s Office),Mr. Kesiye Frank-Oputu.

 The House of Assembly, presided over by the deputy speaker, Fini Angaye, however, announced that the nominees would appear before the House on September 6, for screening and possible confirmation.
