Muslim pilgrims from Katsina State have been called upon to pray for continued peace and stability in the country while in the Holy Land.
The Executive Director of the State’s Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Alhaji Aminu Danbaba, made the call in Dustinma yesterday during an enlightenment campaign for the prospective pilgrims.
He noted that the call had become necessary due to the security challenges facing the country, and said that apart from performing the Hajj, the pilgrims should pray for the country to tackle its security challenges peacefully.
``As Nigerians, we all must rise and pray for the peace and stability of our dear country, hence the need for you to pray for the nation both at home and in the Holy Land,’’ he said.
The executive director also urged the prospective pilgrims to give attention to the enlightenment exercise and continue to seek knowledge on the Hajj rites to ensure a hitch-free and acceptable pilgrimage.
Alhaji Aminu further appealed to them to be good ambassadors of the state while in Saudi Arabia and to comply with the rules and regulations of that country.
In his address, the Chairman of the 2011 Hajj Committee, Alhaji Lawal Dano, said that the state government was striving to ensure a successful pilgrimage and had spent 1,300 Saudi Riyals to secure decent accommodation in Saudi Arabia for pilgrims from the state.
Some 6,000 Muslims from the state are expected to perform this year’s Hajj. (NAN)
