The chairman of the LEADERSHIP Group, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah, has been conferred the traditional title of Kakaki Nupe.
This decision by the Bida Emirate Council is contained in a letter to Mr. Nda-Isaiah which was signed by Etsu Nupe and chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar.
With this conferment by the Etsu, Mr. Nda-Isaiah becomes the first-ever indigene of Nupe Kingdom to be conferred the traditional title, which makes him the spokesman for the Nupe Kingdom.
According to the letter made available to our correspondent yesterday, the Bida Emirate Council decided to confer the KAKAKI NUPE traditional title on Mr. Nda-Isaiah in recognition of his laudable programmes of enlightenment, unity and promotion of socio-political awareness.
Already the Etsu has congratulated Mr. Nda-Isaiah on the achievement, adding that he is looking forward to the turbaning.
All roads will lead to Bida on June 24, 2011, for relations, friends and well-wishers wishing to witness the turbaning.
Mr. Nda-Isaiah has, over the past years, proved to be a foremost pro-good governance advocate and an unswerving voice on contemporary and domestic policy issues.
His weekly Monday back page column in LEADERSHIP remains among the most influential and widely read in Nigeria.
Mr. Nda-Isaiah is one of the most respected men in the Nigerian media industry. The LEADERSHIP Group, which he founded in 2004, has on its stable a newspaper organisation that publishes LEADERSHIP, LEADERSHIP WEEKEND, LEADERSHIP SUNDAY and LEADERSHIP HAUSA. The group also owns the increasingly popular LEADERSHIP Digital - now renamed ledership.ng - a 24-hour online news publishing website.
The newspaper has received the “Newspaper of the Year” award twice in the past five years.
Not content with his contributions to the growth of the Nigerian media, Mr. Nda-Isaiah, who is on the executive council of the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), is also a member of the Vienna-based International Press Institute (IPI), an assemblage of newspaper publishers around the world.
He is also a member of the World Association of Newspapers based in Paris, France, and sits on the boards of Empire Securities Limited, MAP Plc, Lease Praxix Limited and Allan Woods Limited.
