The NNPC has attributed the emerging fuel queues in Abuja and its environs to the dispute between the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) and some oil marketers over freight rate.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that queues began building up in some filling stations in Abuja and its environs on Monday afternoon.
But a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by the Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of NNPC, Dr Levi Ajuonuma, said the queues were induced by a dispute between NARTO and the management of AP and Oando PLC over the recently approved 45 percent increment on freight rate.
Ajuonuma, however, stressed that the scarcity had nothing to do with the availability of the product.
