Barring intervention from appropriate quarters, the staff of Katsina University, the acclaimed first Islamic university in Nigeria, may engage the management in a showdown over pension deductions.
The aggrieved staff members alleged that their pension deductions amounting to over eight million naira had not been remitted to their respective pension funds administrator and are demanding for “full briefing without further delay.”
In a letter addressed to the university’s bursar and was made available to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND, the staff members alleged that their statements of accounts “show that there are missing remittances between the ranges of 10 to 24 months accruing to about nine million naira.”
The letter which was signed by six staff members including one Dr M.I Dalhatu and Musa Mamman Kofansoro of registry departments noted that although a delegation had been sent to the vice chancellor on the matter, nothing had been said about it.
When contacted by our correspondent, the bursar, Abdullahi Sani Audi, denied any knowledge to the receipt of the letter and further said that he was not aware of the alleged non remittance even as he posited that the issue of deduction is not for public consumption.
