Rivers State Police Command yesterday arrested two members of a notorious armed robbery gang believed to have taken part in most of the violent armed robbery incidents recorded in Port Harcourt, the state capital and its environs in recent times.
Police public relations officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Ben Ugwuegbulem, told journalists in Port Harcourt that the two suspected armed robbers were fatally wounded during a shootout with policemen while the only lady-member of the gang escaped.
Ugwuegbulem said the three-man gang was responsible for several banks robberies as well as the killing of both civilians and policemen in recent times in Port Harcourt and its environs.
