Scrabble Federation AGM Begins In Abuja

The Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) begins today at the Savanna Suites Hotel in Gwarimpa, Abuja. It also serves as a one-day workshop for players, trainers and administrators. The workshop is expected to be a capacity building exercise for players, coaches and administrators in order to deliver better performance to the game of scrabble in the country.
 

According to Toke Aka, president, Nigeria Scrabble Federation, the workshop is also meant to equip participants with the skills and techniques so as to bring back the needed excitement into scrabble. He said the workshop will be conducted by a professional scrabble player and will help participants to discover scrabble skills and master the 2 letter words, way ahead for 3 and 4 letter words, 100 most probable 7 and 8 letter words, use of zyzzyva software, rack balance, front and rear hooks, vowel and consonant dumps, use of power tiles and many more aspects.
 

He said as part of programmes to make the 2011 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of NSF robust and rewarding, 42 players will participate in the National Inter-Club Championship scheduled for November 25 -26 at the same venue of the AGM. “Each of the six sporting zones in the country would be represented by seven players with six teams from all the zones. The competitions have been played at the zonal level and it is the winners of the zonal competitions that will now take part in this national club competitions. The overall winning team would go home with N150, 000 and giant trophy, the runners up would bag N100, 000 while the 3rd, 4th and 5th place finish will smile home with N50, 000 for their efforts,” he stated.
