Bandits Rob 4 Banks, Kill 12 In Sagamu

Horror was let loose on Sabo Ajegunle in Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun State, yesterday, when dare-devil armed robbers attacked four banks, namely, Guarantee Trust , Sky, Diamond and Zenith, leaving 12 innocent persons dead.

The robbers, who were said to have used explosives to attack the affected banks, unleashed terror on the people at noon, reportedly shooting sporadically into the air for 15 minutes to scare the people away, before they gained access to the banks and carted away undisclosed amount of money.

An eye witness reported that, attempts to rob Intercontinental bank within the same area met with stiff resistance, despite that, they blew the security door of the banks with dynamites and left several people injured.

It was learnt that the 20-man robbery gang had previously made three attempts to rob those banks, but were vehemently resisted by vigilante group before they caught them unawares this time round.

This deadly robbery attack on banks occurred about two weeks after some banks in the premises of  Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU),Ago-Iwoye in Ijebu North local Government, were robbed with three people dead.

The robbers were also reported to have shot  dead  a  man, motorcyclist and  another who was  eating  at a  food canteen, owned by one  woman called  mama water in the area, while one of the  leaders of the group, identified as Musbau Araokanmi  and one man simply  identified as Letua were  badly shot and were hospitalised.

Leadership gathered that the robbers, who were armed with sophisticated weapons, reportedly killed eight people before they escaped through Iperu-Ago-Iwoye road, passing through OOU mini campus road, an incident that caused serious panic.
