In a few days from now, Nigerian Idol season 2 will become regular on different national and international TV stations.  This was revealed in the recent premiere of the reality show held in Lagos.

However, one of the noticeable changes revealed during the premiere was the clear cut difference between the first season and the second season of the show.  The current edition of the show clearly indicates a departure from the conventional and regular music reality show to a more dramatic, breathe taking and awe inspiring show.

One major thing most people took away from the premiere was the glamour and the characterization of the judges as well as the impact created by the enigmatic Charlyboy who had not only provided the needed drama and ambience for the show but used his creative skills to set a new standard for Nigerian music reality shows.

One would recall that his inclusion as one of the judges of the show was at the early stage, visited with a lot of criticism. However, many people who turned out for the premiere confessed that, though other judges have not fallen short of expectations, Charlyboy took the show to another level.

Many who watched the premiere had no dull moments. According to them, the needed drama for the reality show was realized through the efforts of the social engineer.

What started on a low key in the FCT, took a different turn in Enugu when CB, as he is fondly called, took a pet Python to the show. It was truly a drama in a drama as the audience and press could not stop shouting. They loved it.  The rising action continued at every point the judges disagreed with each other. The climax came when the humanitarian side of the Charlyboy brand was displayed in what the organizers have termed, the street talent hunt.

The last drama that took place shortly before the premiere was the arrival of the Areafada who stormed the venue in an unusual style. Elaborately costumed with two Charly’s Angels in company, Charlyboy received  overwhelming accolades from fans who concluded that he has been displaying his different elements since the inception of the show.

Meanwhile, sources close to the Areafada revealed that he may be taking a different turn when the show gets serious this December; revealing that CB may want to encourage traditional values through traditional songs instead of the present demand for contemporary music.
