The minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Kuchi, has joined in the ongoing agitation for disputes and disagreements in the country to be resolved through the process of mediation and conciliation, instead of resorting to expensive and often acrimonious litigations.
Hajiya Kuchi made the comment yesterday while being inducted as a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators at the 2011 annual general meeting and members’ evening. She lamented that the scope of mediation as a tool of dispute resolution was yet to be explored fully, to enable the country utilize its enormous benefits.
Kuchi, in a statements signed by the Ministry’s Deputy Director, Press, Chief Fidelis Osamor maintained that the review of the long practice approach of dispute resolution will bring back peace to the nation as well as create wealth and opportunities for the country to boost its economy.
