Action continue in the Nigeria Professional Football League’s 34th week, as title chasers Enugu Rangers romped to victory over a hapless Rivers United 4-0 to return to the top of the log, while Kano Pillars over-ran Sunshine Stars of Akure 2-0 and Lobi out-matched defending champions Enyimba 1-0 yesterday evening.

Seyi Olusesi started the goals’ harvest, as his 40th minute effort put the Flying Antelopes ahead. Godwin Aguda doubled the lead for Rangers seven minutes later, Christian Madu made it three for the Antelopes in the 82nd minute, before Obinna Nwobodo completed the rout two minute later to wrap-up an applaudable evening for the Enugu-based side.

The win sees Rangers soar to the top of the NPFL log, with 54 points from 32 matches, while Rivers United slipped to second place on 53 points. Former leaders, Wikki Tourists, are third, having recorded 51 from the same number of games.

Nanen Imenger’s 4th minute goal silenced Enyimba and saw them struggle for the rest of the game, despite close attempts at goal. With the win, Lobi Stars climbed to fourth place, thanks to 49 points, so far.

In Kano, a double strike from Amos Gyang and Gambo Mohammed put a stamp on Kano Pillars’ win over Sunshine Stars of Akure at the Sani Abacha Stadium, bringing the ma su gida’s points’ haul to 48 points, placing them ninth.

Akwa United handed MFM FC a 3-1 defeat in Uyo, Plateau United shocked Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan 1-0, while Warri Wolves enjoyed a soothing 1-0 win over Nasarawa United in Oghara.
