8 States Confirm Participation For Alaafin Boxing Tourney

The six states in the southwest geo-political zone of the country with Edo and Delta had signified their interest by submitting names of boxers for the Oba Adeyemi United Boxing Tournament, put together to commemorate the 78th birthday anniversary of the Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo.

The amateur boxing tournament which would also include an award of recognition according to the financier, Mojeed Okedara, a World belt holder has been scheduled to start by 8th October with the grand finale slated for 15th October, the day the Oyo monarch would be clocking 78.

Meanwhile the chairman of Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association (OSABA), Chief Baron Akintunde Opaleye has described the boxing tourney as a blessing to the Oyo boxing family.

Opaleye commended the Universal Boxing Council (UBO) World belt champion, who is bankrolling the event to celebrate the respected monarch.
