The federal government has initiated the process of constructing a
multi-billion Naira multi-purpose dam in Mada Stattion, Nasarawe Eggon
local government area of the state.

Authority, Mohammed Adara, disclosed this on Monday when he visited
Mada river in Mada Station community where the dam is expected to be
He said the project is a welcome development in view of the value it
stands to add to the lives of the residents of the state and beyond.
Adara said the agency would immediately mobilize team of experts to
the area within days to commence preliminary assessment of the
designated area before submitting its report to the federal ministry
of Water resources for further action.
The MD however maintained that although the existing dams under the
watch of the agency were not performing optimally, the federal
government has made commitment towards revitalizing them through the
Public Private Partnership (PPP).
In the address, the Paramount ruler of Eggon nation, the Aren Eggon,
HRH Dr. Bala Angbazo, who was represented by Senator Patrick Agah,
said this would be the federal government’s first major project since
the dawn of democracy in 1999.
He lauded President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for accepting to
site such a robust and economically viable project in his domain,
saying the entire Eggon nation would give their unflinching support to
ensure the successful execution of the project.
The royal father also thanked Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah, the publisher of
LEADERSHIP Newspaper, for his untiring effort at seeing that the
project got the desired federal government attention.
He said Mr. Nda Isaiah has demonstrated he is true Nigerian, who
pursues the welfare of his fellow countrymen and women irrespective of
ethnic, religious or geographic consideration.
The facilitator of the project, Hon. Yusuf Maianguwa, whose commitment
to attracting the project to the community has seen the light of day,
said the construction of the dam will enhance the achievement of the
Millennium Sustainable Goals (SDGs) in the implementation of the
poverty alleviation strategy.
He explained that “More farming activities all year round will spring
up as a result of channelized irrigation system” adding that it will
also “discourage rural-urban migration and ensure the creation of
wealth and provision of employment.
Maianguwa similarly lauded Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah for investing his time
and energy towards the realization of this noble project, assuring
that the entire Nasarawa state stands to benefit.
