No fewer than 16 persons Including 4 female Suicide bombers have been confirmed dead while 11 others sustained various degrees of injuries in multiple suicide bomb attacks in kofa village near Dalori IDPs Camp along Maiduguri-Konduga road about eight km from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
Comfirmng the incident to newsmen yesterday in Maiduguri, the Borno State police public relations officer, DSP Victor Isuku said the first Suicide bomber detonated the IED strapped to her body near a mosque, killing seven persons while the second bomber detonated her IED in a house killing five Persons as two others detonated theirs within the same visinity , killing themselves only.
DSP Isuku said, “Yesterday, Sunday June 18, 2017, at about 2030hrs , five female suicide bombers detonated IEDs strapped to their bodies in Kofa Community, along Maiduguri-konduga road killing sixteen persons Including themselves while eleven Persons sustained various degrees of injuries.
“The bodies of the deaths have been evacuated while the eleven Persons who sustained injuries were rushed to the university of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for medical attention.”
Mr Isuku added that the EOD team of the police Command were mobilized to the scene, saying that normalcy has since been restored in the area.
