Nigerian-American basketball sisters, Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike, have been snapped up by global sport brand, Adidas; thus, adding them to the brand’s impressive list of lady basketballers.
The sisters were voted Most Valuable Players (MVP) and champions, respectively, of the American Women National Basketball Association (WNBA).
Nneka Ogwumike is a reigning league MVP and WNBA champion, while Chiney is the 2014 Rookie of the Year.
Adidas announced the signings of the duo in a ceremony that also saw the company welcome two other lady basketball stars, Chelsea Gray and Alexis Jones. The quartet joined the ranks of Adidas basketball roster that featured in the 2016 WNBA Finals MVP – Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks, Moriah Jefferson of the San Antonio Stars, Imani Boyette of the Chicago Sky and Morgan Tuck of the Connecticut Sun.
In a statement released by Adidas, “Nneka will continue to grow the game alongside her sister and 2014 Rookie of the Year Chiney Ogwumike of the Connecticut Sun, 2016 WNBA Finals Champion Chelsea Gray of the Los Angeles Sparks and Alexis Jones, the No. 12 overall pick of the 2017 WNBA Draft by the Minnesota Lynx,” the statement said.
