Capacity Building: Total E&P Trains over 100 Adult Literacy Teachers in A/Ibom

 In demonstration of its commitment to the continuous development of education in its host communities, Total Exploration and Producing Company of Nigeria, TEPNG, has trained over 100 teachers on capacity development under its Adult Literacy Campaign programme in Akwa Ibom state.
 Declaring open the training yesterday at Mary Hanny Girls Secondary School in Oron, Manager, Capacity Development in the Community Affairs and Development Division of TEPNG Mr. Enefiok Akpan said that the workshop was organized for teachers engaged in the company’s adult literacy campaign programme and it is aimed at supporting the state Government in building the teacher’s capacity for better result.
He explained that the theme of the workshop ‘’Effective Teaching Methodology’’ was chosen to reflect the thinking of TEPNG Management with respect to adult education development in its host communities.
‘’We in TOTAL believe that building the capacity of adult education teachers and students in our host communities will go an long way in broadening the scope of education and enhancing effective communication for community development’’ he stated.
Enefiok stated that the achievement of education for all especially adult is a key objective of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) and as a cooperate organization, NNPC/TEPNG is poised to support communities achieve these laudable objectives to engender the sustainable Development of the host communities.
He charged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity provided in eliminating illiteracy among the local communities.
Welcoming participants to the workshop, the lead resource person Dr. Augustine Umoh disclosed that participants for the programme were drawn from primary and secondary schools within the communities with the sole aim of improving and impacting on their teaching skills for concomitant better delivery to their pupils and students back at their various schools.
He said that the programme as an annual event has map out series of lectures on effective teaching method especially in Mathematics, English language Physical and health education.
