When Northern Christians Celebrate Israel, Jerusalem

……..It was not just a meeting for prayers, but a fun fare gathering of clerics, politicians and group associations to celebrate Jerusalem at 50 and the State of Israel at 69.

Delegates were drawn from seven states that made up the North-west chapter of Christian United For Israel (CUFI).
The Abundant Life Christian Assembly, Kachia Road Ungwan Sunday, Kaduna, was filled to the brim last Sunday evening where prayers were offered for the State of Israel at 69 and the peace of Jerusalem at 50.
Speaking during the programme, a member of the National Assembly, representing Kauru Federal Constituency, Hon Simon Arabo stated Nigeria stood to benefit a lot from Israel.
Arabo said Israel has been successful in the fight against terrorism and has also turned their desert area into agricultural hub adding that if Nigeria copies what Israel is doing, the country would stand a better chance of becoming great in the comity of nations.
Arabo notes that Nigeria and Israel have cordial relationship even as there is a committee in the House of Representatives that takes care of Nigeria/Israel ties.
“Israel is a prophetic country in which God has continued to fulfil His covenant. So, Christians and people of goodwill must pray for Israel. The North-west, Kaduna State and indeed Nigeria should explore a relationship that will help in reviving our agricultural potential,” Arabo said.
The executive secretary of CUFI, Rev Samson Ozovehe said among all the countries of the world, it was only the State of Israel that was created by an act of God.
He said CUFI as a prayer outreach in Nigeria and other countries of the world seeking for the peace of Jerusalem and Israel have done a lot in advancing the relationship between Nigeria and Israel.
“Israel is unique in the sense that according to the Bible, Israel is the only nation created by an act of God. Every other nation was created by human geographical boundary. That is the only instance where God called a group of people so that they can be a blessing to the whole world. We are identifying with Israel so that our country can also be blessed,” Ozovehe said.
He said the relationship between Nigeria and Israel has been cordial adding that there will soon be direct flights from Nigeria to Israel. .
“In 2009, our late President Yar’Adua signed a bilateral trade agreement with Israel. In 2013, former President Goodluck Jonathan went to Israel and signed a bilateral air travel agreement. We are still working on that and once it is concluded, there will be a direct flight from Nigeria to Israel.”
The secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State chapter, Rev Sunday Ibrahim who was the guest speaker at the programme also said that Nigeria stood to benefit more if they aligned with the state of Israel.
According to Ibrahim, “God has made a lot of pronouncements about Israel with a saying that whoever that blessed Israel is blessed. Are you not surprised that as a desert area, Israel is feeding many countries?
“As small as Israel is, it is a peculiar nation. You just need to see how technologically advanced that country is because they are tied to the God of Heaven.”
He call on the federal and state governments to partner with the State of Israel.
Also, the secretary, Kaduna State Chapter of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Dr Patrick Katuka said the search for global peace has made Israel unique among the countries of the world adding that there was serious need for Nigeria to continue with the good bilateral relationship it has already established with Israel for more benefits on tourism and agriculture.
Also speaking, a prominent traditional ruler in Kaduna State, the Sir Gbagyi 1, Dr Danjuma Barde who was represented by Usman Mahutan Gbagyi said they will work hard to see to the progress of CUFI in Kaduna state.
“When they brought the letter of this programme to our office, I asked whether we will be allowed to speak on how Israelis were chased out of their land but they are now recovering it, they said no. I also asked whether we will be allowed to talk on how the Gbagyi people were chased out of their land in Kaduna and whether they should also start a process of recovering it, the organisers said no. But we will continue to support CUFI in every possible way we can and also pray for the State of Israel and the peace of  Jerusalem, Nigeria and Kaduna state,” he said.
