He assured that for administrative purposes and decentralization of power to enhance speeding development of the game, all the zones and state associations would be given fair and equal attention in their quest to develop the game at the grassroots level.
He said he desire is to change the face of Nigeria’s handball, bring back the old glory and make it an employment opportunity for the teeming Nigerian youth.
“My desire is to harness, unite and move handball to greater heights. Handball is a means of employment for our youths so it will change their attitude. And so, it’s time to redefine the state of handball in the country, the standard it used to enjoy. The way the game is being conducted is not okay to some of us that have played it before.
“We have seen the deficiency handball has gone through in all the states we went to in the course of our campaign and we will empower zonal representatives in their quest to develop the game in their respective zones.
Having stated that all the six zones would have a sense of belonging in the new board of the HFN, Jibrin added that board members representing the zones would have an important role to play in linking their zones with the federation.
He also added that his administration will unite handball family together for total transformation of the sport in the county.
“Zonal representatives will be saddled with the responsibility of liaising with the federation. Their responsibility will be to develop sustainable grassroots programmes in all the states under their zones.
“Imagine that, the abundant opportunities we have available to us to lift the game in Nigeria beyond our wildest comprehension if only we can all come together as one to making positive contributions towards the growth and development of the game in the country. I want to be the President of a united handball family and not a divided house. To this extent, I request that we all leave behind those things that have divided us over the years and focus on the more glorious future ahead of us – the positive things that will foster unity among us,” he added.
