JOSHUA DADA,

Ademola Adeleke the younger brother of Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Osun West Senatorial District election.

Osun West Senatorial seat became vacant following the demise of late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke.

His brother Ademola Adeleke who had earlier made his intention to contest on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) defected to the PDP at the eleventh hour.

He is the sole contestant following the decision of other senatorial aspirants in the PDP, including Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, retired Col Olayiwola Falabi and Bamidele Salam to step down for him.

It was gathered that Adeleke was adopted at a stakeholder’s meeting of the PDP in Osogbo in the early hours of Tuesday.

Ademola Adeleke’s emergence came through affirmation after scoring 343 votes in the primary exercise conducted by national committee of the PDP from Abuja national secretariat led by Chief Pegba Otemolu.

Speaking during the primary exercise, Otemolu said “we had thought that this exercise would take longer time, but with the unfolding events, we are going to spend few hours”.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed July 8 bye election to fill the vacant seat at the National Assembly.

In his remark after the exercise, Ademola Adeleke stated, “come July 8, 2017, we shall coast home to victory by the grace of God. Nothing can stop us . We are winning this election.

Addressing newsmen, the Osun State chairman of the PDP, Hon Soji Adagunodo maintained that “you can see that we are open and transparent in our primaries election. With the consensus candidate we have presented, we are good to go in July 8 by- election. We would win landslide”.

He further posited that “Ademola Adeleke was our member before he joined the APC. Now he has come back. What happened today is a sign of good thing to come in 2018 when we would win 2018 governorship election”.
