The Sokoto State’s Education Revitalization and Strengthening Committee chaired by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar 111 has assured that, it will amongst other things recommend the sacking of unqualified teachers as a way of ensuring success of the state of emergency declared on the education sector by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

Making the disclosure yesterday at the 2017 Annual General Meeting of the Sokoto Education Development Trust Fund( SEDTF), the Sultan noted that some teachers in the state are perennial absentee teachers.

While promising that, the 27-man committee will justify the confidence reposed on it, the Sultan assured that they will discharge their assignment with fear of God.

‘’We will work assiduously in the discharge of this noble assignment,

without fear or favour, and the absolute fear of God.

‘’The committee will recommend the sacking of all unqualified teachers, as there are many of them, with some of them always absent from their duty posts” Sultan stressed.

Speaking before the inauguration, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal divulged that the state will realize over a billion naira as education levy deductions from all civil and public servants in the state.

“In view of the fact that, educational statistics about the state remained worrisome, the newly inaugurated committee is to amongst other things help in enrollment, retention and completion of pupils education.”
