K-Night Africa Wins 2017 K-POP Dance Competition




It was a dream come through for a dance grup from Warri known as K-Night Africa who clinched the coveted price of N300,000 and also to represent Nigeria at the K-POP World Dance festival in Changwon, South Korea.

The event held at Nicon Luxery hotel , Abuja witnessed a huge tuneout as various groups came in to compete for the ultimate price.

This year’s edition of the K-POP competition saw seven dance groups competing in the adult category and seven others in the student’s category.

The adult category included; K-Night Africa, Mastiq DC, and FDC Dance groups.
Others were 360 Dance Crew, Dance Machine Empire, Fragiles Dance Crew and Da Furious F Dance Crew.

The student’s category included NGIS K-Popian Junior, Amity Peak Concept and K-POP High Flyers Girls.

Others were Julimore, Crew 101, JSS Zuma and HT3. Speaking, Mr Nor Kyu-duk, Ambassador of Republic of South Korea to Nigeria says Nigeria is a country blessed with abundance of talents, “In dance alone, young people from this nation have time and time again, shown on the world stage in far away Korea, what great feat they can achieve.

The Supreme Task crew who represented Nigeria in the last K-Pop World Festival won the best team in the Performance category 2016.

“ I am happy that our robust diplomatic relations is growing stronger even as the many cultural activities that we are promoting in Nigeria will be sustained. The Korean Cultural Centre has as well been remodeled to be more interactive. Around the K-Pop section in the exhibition hall, visitors can watch and listen to new K-Pop songs on tablets. K-Pop dance class is now a regular programme at the Cultural Centre. Dance instructors from Korea are periodically brought –in to take students on dance lessons, while a local dance instructor is always on hand.’ He explained.

The K-POP World Festival is an annual event organised by South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the support of numerous government agencies.
