Zamfara State government has last weekend awarded contracts worth over N590 million for the renovation and reconstruction of two units of Day Secondary Schools in the state.
The schools are Government Day Secondary School, Danbaza and Government Girls Day Secondary School Bungudu in Maradun.
The state acting governor,Malam Ibrahim Wakkala,who issued the contract notification letters to 24 Indigenous contractors, said the contracts comprised total renovation ,construction of new structures of classrooms, staff quarters and supply of furnitures, teaching and learning materials.
Giving the breakdown of the contract sum, the acting governor, said Government Girls Day Secondary School Bungudu would gulp about N414 million while the project for Government Day Secondary School Dambaza is costing over N177 million.
Wakkala said the state government has resolved to give the contract to indigenous contractors in order to motivate and boost the economy of the state.
