Celebrities, Others Defy Rain For Tatu




After a well thought-out teaser, expectations were high for ‘Tatu’, a new film by award-winning director; Don Omope, leading to a star-studded premiere at the Eko Hotel Convention center, Victoria Island, last Saturday.

It was a day of heavy downpour, but that did not deter the high profile guests who cut across the different strata of the society.

Aside the popularity of Omope, whose credit include the award-winning and box office hit films – ‘Taxi Driver’ (Oko Ashewo) and ‘The Wedding Party’, ‘Tatu’ is an adaptation of a book written by the prolific author Dr. Abraham E. Nwankwo, the recently retired Director General, Debt Management Office, and one of the films powered by Bank of Industry under its NollyFund scheme.

The epic movie stars Segun Arinze, Desmond Elliott, Toyin Aimakhu-Abraham, Gabriel Afolayan, Rahama Sadau, Sambaza Nzeribe, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Hafiz Oyetoro (Saka), Frank Dunga and a host of others.

Guests who had earlier rocked the red carpet and partook in the pre-screening cocktail where full of praises for the movie which is centered on complications around a woman’s desire for the fruit of the womb.

Scheduled for a September 15 cinema release date, the films is a collaboration of Bank of Industry and Patriarch Technologies in conjunction with FilmOne Production and FilmOne Distribution.

Group Head, Creative Industry Group at the Bank of Industry, Mrs. Cynthia Nwuka who spoke about the bank’s commitment to the development of Nollywood said ‘Tatu’ is the sixth in the series of films supported by her bank.

Recall that the bank had supported films such as ‘The CEO’ by Kunle Afolayan; ‘Ayamma’ by Emem Isong; ‘When Love Happens Again’ by Seyi Babatope; ‘Isoken’ by Jadesola Osiberu; and ‘Three Wise Men’ by Opa Williams.
