Communal Crisis: Ajimobi Deploys Security Personnel To Prone Areas

As parts of strategic moves to curb the prevailing crisis in some parts of Oyo State, Governor Abiola Ajimobi has deployed security personnel to tackle the unrest .

Our correspondent learnt that the idea which was aimed at fostering peaceful cohabitation, unconditional security of lives and property as the “ember” months draw nearer.

Members of the special security outfit codenamed “Operation Burst” had been deployed to strategic locations in the state.

Government source said the development was perceived not to be unconnected to the raging communal crises caused by the followers of the masquerades among the warring cultist groups in some ancestral compounds in the just concluded popular “egungun” festival in the city.

It will be recalled that residents, traders and other related commercial operators at Idi-Arere, Popoyemoja, Isale-Osi, Itamaya, Agbokojo, Agbeni-Ogunpa and other adjoining communities in Ibadan South West and Ibadan North West Local Areas in the metropolis have been fearfully subjected to undue harassment, loss of property and lives in the last two weeks as a result of the incessant attacks of the hoodlums under pretext of the annual masquerade outings.

The Abiola Ajimobi- led administration which is adjudged to be the redeemer of the mortgaged peaceful atmosphere in the state is said to be proactive in out rightly stamping out criminality from the state with its time to time reinforcement of logistics to every security outfit.

This development residents have said is ensuring adequate security of lives and property, aiding unprecedented socio-economic development in the state.
