The Oyo State Coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Ajibola Muraina, has debunked the claims making the rounds that the party has appointed coordinators for the 33 local governments of the state.

Muraina, who was recently appointed as the state coordinator by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led national caretaker committee of the party, in a statement in Ibadan on Monday, said that he had no mandate to do such.

According to him, his mandate is to ensure sincere and genuine reconciliation among the members of the party in the state, a task in which he said that party had begun to make progress.

The former lawmakers revealed that there were plans to “package tissues of lies” to petition the PDP headquarters on his appointment, stating that the PDP has moved to the next level and that the current leadership peopled by “people of integrity” will not allow rumour-mongering and baseless lies to destroy the party again.

“I enjoin all our members to rise up to work hard for the party and give us support to receive all our former leaders and teeming members back to the party so that we can have a strong platform that will be difficult for other parties to beat in 2019, rather than engaging in rumour mongering, back-biting, blackmailing and petition writing.

“In this time of hunger and hardship, let us come together without bitterness or hatred to ignore frivolities but to involve ourselves in constructive engagement of our members and masses of our people to bring back to Nigeria, a government of peace and prosperity flowing with milk and honey,” the statement read.
