1000 Northern Football Clubs Gets Kwankwasiyya Largesse

The Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation (KDF), yesterday  disbursed  sets of jerseys, balls and cash donations to 1000 grass roots football clubs based in Northern Nigeria.

The football equipments and cash donations valued at  over N150 million were doled out to the beneficiaries by the president, Nigeria Football Federation, NFF Pinnick Amaju.

NFF Executive Member, Ibrahim Gusau, who conducted the distribution ceremony on behalf of Mr Amaju stated that, the federation is willing to collaborate with individual and cooperate organizations with the  genuine intention to support football promotion and development.

Ibrahim Gusau,  praised the foundation for initiating a  programme that would assist the growth of teeming football clubs in Northern Nigeria.

The chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the empowerment scheme, Hon. Nuhu Damburam disclosed that, 500 out of the 1000 clubs were selected from Kano.

The remainder 500 prospective beneficiaries were drawn from 18 Northern states., he said the Kano disbursement is the pilot scheme, donations to selected clubs from  other parts of the North commences immediately.

Damburam, who is a member of the House of Representatives, representing Kano Municipal, said

“our Grand Commander, His Excellency, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has directed that we spread the gesture to other states of the North as soon as we conclude the Kano event today.”

“the next three months, the sports empowerment programme will be spread to across all the states in the country, including Abuja to showcase the magnanimity of Kwankwaso and the passion he has for the game of football and sports development”, he added

“The Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation seeks to engender and promote peaceful coexistence and development for the betterment of socio-economic well being of the common people in our society.

He further disclosed that, the cash of N50.000 and below would be handed out to the clubs in a bid to bring succor to  their financial constraints.

The Director-General of the Foundation, Alhaji Surajo Habib Zamfara,  appealed to the clubs to make proper use of the playing equipments.

“Senator Kwankwaso decided to reach out to you because of his strong believe in youth development and encouragement to young talents. When you do well with this, the Foundation will always be ready to do even more to support you.” Surajo stated.
