BY BODE GBADEBO, Abuja –
Barring last-minute change of plan, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, is set to dissolve the State Executive Committee of the party in Kogi state today Tuesday during a scheduled meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja.
If the plan sails through, it will be contrary to Chief Tony Momoh-led committee’s recommendations to the party’s national leadership, which strongly evolved a blueprint for reconciliation between the Audu/Faleke faction and Governor Yahaya Bello-led faction of the party in Kogu state.
According to a source, the latest move by the APC national chairman, is tantamount to a “selfish interest” and an attempt to sell the Audu/Faleke stakes in the APC to the Yahaya Bello’s faction of the APC.
According to the insider, who craved for anonymity, it is believed that Oyegun may have been offered a huge sum of money amounting to the sum of N150 million to be disbursed among the high ranking members of the APC NWC in order to perfect the plan.
The source further hinted that the national chairman of the party will also allegedly get a contract for the rehabilitation of Kabba township road as a “honorarium” for effecting the change in the state’s leadership of the party.
However, LEADERSHIP gathered that the Audu/Faleke faction may resist the impending decision because, according to a member of the bloc, they are ready to fight the battle to any length.
Going by the unfolding scenario presently in the Confluence State, it is obvious that the Audu/Faleke faction with Haddy Ametuo as the state chairman of the party may be losing the battleground to the faction loyal to the state governor, a development that may further polarised APC in Kogi state if unresolved.
“It is baffling that the APC that came to power with a strong message which centered on anti-corruption campaign is now caught in web of corruption,” the source added.
