The African Children Talent Discovery Foundation, (ACTDF), a non-governmental organization that has been helping to empower children , youths and teeming populace, has unveiled its “ACTDF Unleash Your Talent 2017” in Lagos.
At a star-studded event held at the Sheraton hotels in Lagos, President of ACTDF , Engr. Noah Dallaji, who led an array of ambassadors of the Foundation and other celebrities that included Segun Arinze, Ejike Asiegbu, Kate Henshaw, Tonto Dikeh, Alex Usifo, Sound Sultan, Yemi Blaq, Thelma Ojiji, Mohammed Abubakar, Emeka Rollas and a host of others promised a highly impacting show.
The event which hold its zonal auditions in cities across Nigeria from the 17th to the 19th of August, 2017. The regions to host aspiring contestants include Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Nasarawa, Bauchi, Kaduna, Ibadan/Ekiti and Abuja. Ibadan would kick start the audition process on the 17th and carry it over to the 18th, while the other regions would hold theirs from 18th to 19th of August.
In his speech at the event, president of the ACTDF, Engr. Noah Dallaji, stated that the organization has recorded tremendous achievements in the area of provision of humanitarian services to the less-privileged and for which reason it was recognized by the United Nations as a Grade C non-governmental organization. Dallaji further reeled out the people-oriented projects that have been carried out by the organization which most importantly include providing boreholes for rural communities, and putting up relevant infrastructure for the people’s use.
The statement added that the ACTDF Foundation participated actively in the Rio 2012 United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals Summit in Brazil, and is credited to be the only NGO in Africa to have established the sister-city linkage programme between Oakland City in the United States and Bauchi State in Nigeria and as a result of which over a thousand Nigerian students from across the federation were awarded scholarships to study both in the United States and in Nigeria. Presently, the foundation boasts of footing the education bills of over 2,500 students across the country and beyond, and touching lives positively through offering community healthcare services and helping young children discover their innate potentials.
The Unleash Your Talent 2017 audition will majorly feature singing, dancing and acting competitions. It is expected that at the end of the zonal auditions, at least 3 contestants should emerge from each of the 8 zones, who will then slug it out against one another until the final winner emerges. The grand finale is billed to hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on the 1st of September, 2017. Winners of the respective categories of singing, dancing and acting would each get a contract worth a million naira and other cash prizes, and accompany the Foundation to the UN Summit in New York, while the first and second runners up of the respective categories would also be rewarded with juicy contracts and cash prizes.
According to Dallaji, the Unleash Your Talent 2017 project is cued into this year’s United Nation’s General Assembly Summit which has tagged 2017 as the Year of Sustainable Tourism Development.
“We shall be in the United States come September to depict the potentials in our youths, and practically show how we could use it to drive the tourism sector in Nigeria through our various slated side events and general meetings. Just as we go round scouting for talents and helping them earn a living, we also believe that harnessing these human resources could help improve tourism whether in sports, singing, dancing or even sheer gift of craft-making”, said Dallaji in his addeess.
Dallaji further added that great nations evolve basically through investing in their human and material resources, and assured that the 2017 edition of the Unleash Your Talent Show would see the tourism sector breaking new grounds and recording unprecedented achievements.
“At the grand finale in Port Harcourt, we look forward to hosting a most successful event that will give our teeming youths a chance to celebrate life and enjoy it to the fullest. When we see our efforts impact positively on the needy and watch them in turn use their God-given talents to influence the larger society positively, we become satisfied as this is just the only way great nations evolve”, Engr Noah stated.
