Tony Nwoye Emerges APC Candidate For Anambra Guber

Tony Nwoye has emerged the flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.

Nwoye scored a total of 2,146 votes to beat other 11 contestants, including Senator Andy Uba who came second with a total of 931 votes and the APC national Auditor, Chief George Muoghalu who scored a total of 525 votes to come third after Uba.

Chairman of the committee mandated by the APC national leadership to conduct the primary and governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, who announced the result of the governorship primary said a total of 4,458 delegates were accredited, while a total of 4333 votes were cast, out of which  total valid votes cast was 4,302 and total invalid votes cast of 31.

Out of the 4,302 valid votes cast during the APC governorship primary held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, the state capital, the total number of invalid votes cast during the exercise was 31.

The governorship primary which lasted for two days, from Saturday, with accreditation of delegates at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Centre and later voting by delegates at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, was rated by virtually every observer as most transparent, free and fair and rancour free.

Details of the scores as announced by Governor Shettima were as follows: Tony Nwoye (2146), Andy Uba (931), George Muoghalu (525), Barth Nwibe (414), Obinna Uzor (17), Chike Obidigbo (22), Nonso Madu (21), Patrike Nwike (20),JohnBosco Onunkwo (85), Paul Chukwuma (110), Kate Adobi Uchegbu (1) and Donatus Okonkwo (10)

Shetimma commended the APC stakeholders in the state, particularly the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, the party leadership, the contestants, security operatives, INEC and the media for co-operating with his committee.

He stated that it was the neighboring Enugu state governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who provided his committee with logistics that enabled them to find their way to Anambra for the conduct of the exercise.

The APC flag-bearer, Tony Nwoye who is currently representing Anambra East and Anambra West federal constituency at the National Assembly commended the Governor Shettima-led Committee, the party leadership at the national and state levels, party faithful, especially the delegates, for providing him a level playing ground to realise his ambition of providing his state with good governance, even as he pledged that he would not fail them.
