NGO Renders Free Medical Services To Less Priviledged

As part of activities to celebrate Eid- El- Kabir and put smile on the faces of less priviledged,  a humanitarian organisation Touching Lives International has given free medical services and empowerment to over 500 widows in Abuja .

The event which took place, Monday at Cyprian Ekwensi Center for Art and Cultural Abuja was attended by widows, aged , physically challenged persons.

According to the President of the organization, Mr.Samuel Ayeni said that the foundation decided to  give recognition to the plight of widows , less priviledged and their children to restore and rekindle their hope in the present government as a way of alleviating poverty.  through empowerment.

He noted that health issues which is one of the basic necessities  of life should be given adequate attention . He added that many Nigerians have lost their lives to minor ailment as a result of lack of access to good healthcare facilities.

” We decided to render this humanitarian service to the less privileged irrespective of their religion, tribe and sex. Because they are the most neglected in the society and we share common fate, same destiny and experiences”

Ayeni explained that the organisation would continue to deepen its social services delivery to the widows and less privileged, by complementing government’s services.

The President appealed to wealthy Nigerians and philanthropists to support similar humanitarian ventures, by rendering selfless service to the less-privileged in the society.

“Government at all levels should work more with Non Governmental Organisations toward ensuring peace in the country. For meaningful development to be achieved there is need to maintain the existing peace in the country support government at all levels,” he said ”

A comprehensive body check up was carried out by some medical experts for all participants attended the event which includes ; high blood pressure, sugar level , Malaria.

One of the beneficiaries of the free medical outreach Mrs.Faith Ogwuche who spoke to journalists  said ” Yes, we have told ourselves that life must go on. We can’t keep complaining over our situation. We have lost our husbands but then, that is not the end of life. At least, we are alive and we need to take care of our children, instead of sitting down somewhere and be blaming God or somebody for our situation. We just need to face the challenges of widowhood,” she stated.

Touching Lives International also render services which includes ; free trade and skill acquisition, scholarship award , financial empowerment and e- commerce among others.
