The federal government has disclosed plans to commence the rehabilitation of the dilapidated Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi road after the raining season, after it described the state of the road as death trap.
The minister of state for Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, disclosed this at a three-day retreat for members of the Edo State House of Assembly in Abuja at the weekend.
Dr Ehanire said the issue of the deplorable road has been discussed with the minister of Power, Works and Housing adding that after the rains work will commence.
According to him, “I have discussed the issue of the road with the Minister and he also agreed that it is a death trap, so he has assured us that after the rains there will be a lot of emphasis on that road, I take that road too and I have given a clear picture of how that road is to him”.
The deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, who declared the retreat open, also harped on the need for the federal government to fix the dilapidated road.
