The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday defeated Kwara in the female Handball to win the gold medal while the host state got the silver medal.
FCT defeated their counterparts from Kwara 25-22 in the final of the ongoing 3rd National Youth Games (NYG) in Ilorin, the Kwara capital.
The Harmony girls over powered FCT team in the first half with a four points lead to end it 12-8.
On resumption, FCT girls reorganised and dominated the game which paid off as they leveled the score line.
All efforts made by Harmony girls to match their opponents proved abortive as they lost 25-22.
Speaking after the game, Kwara Handball Coach, Isiaka Atanda, who praised his girls, expressed his dissatisfaction with the officiating of the game.
The Chairman of the Kwara Handball Association, Emanuel Olubiyo, said he was satisfied with the team’s performance.
He said the NYG is not about winning alone but to also to groom athletes for the future. (NAN)
